Chile Tsunami:

On the 16th September 2015 an earthquake happened in Chile which caused a tsunami. The effects were horrific. The local time was 19:33pm and the earthquake was measured 8.3 on the Richter scale.
8 people are reported dead and lots more missing, also over 1 million people had to evacuate cities around Chile. The people were not expecting it and it was the worst since 1960 that was 9.5 on Richter scale and killed over 5000 people.
lots of powerful floods were sent from the sea far into land and this swept both people and homes away causing lots of debris and also polluting the towns it hit with dirty water. the earthquake was so powerful that it was felt within the whole of South America. Tsunami warnings were sent to various places in South America including: Peru, Mexico and Hawaii. The earthquake was so powerful it made the day shorter by a fraction of a second and also changed the Axis by a fraction too.
